Day 1 - Arrival in Chennai
Arrive in Chennai to a warm welcome and proceed to Hotel. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Later enjoy visiting places such as Kabalishwara Temple, Santhom Church, St. George Fort and Madras (Chennai) Museum. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at Chennai.
Chennai was born as a metropolitan city soon after the British negotiated a strip of land from the King of Vijayanagar to build the fortified city, Fort St. George, in 1640. Here temples and buildings built by the erstwhile royalty stand side-by-side with the gothic churches and Indo-Sarcenic architectural landmarks.
Popularly known as “the Gateway to South India”, Chennai is the ever growing capital of Tamil Nadu, not to mention the largest city in the state. Shopping malls, IT companies, fine dine restaurants, educational institutes and big business houses make up its cosmopolitan façade that stands in striking contrast to a resolute and religious interior.
Day 2 - Chennai - Pondicherry (160 kms)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Pondicherry, which is a former French colony. The town still retains a French influence in its architecture, surroundings and planning. On arrival, check-in to your hotel and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 3 - Pondicherry | Sightseeing tour
After breakfast, visit the Aurobindo Ashram founded by a Bengali philosopher, Aurobindo, in the early 20th century. In the afternoon, you will have the option to visit Auroville or relax on the beach. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4 - Pondicherry - Tanjore (175 kms)
Today, early morning breakfast proceed to Tanjore. On your arrival, check-in at the hotel. This entire area is rich in South Indian temple architecture. In the afternoon, visit the great Brihadeshwara temple, which is considered to be one of the most magnificent Chola temples in India, standing tall in the temple city. Visit the Art Gallery and Saraswati Mahal library houses in the Tanjore Palace. Thereafter, return to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 5 - Tanjore - Trichy (68 Kms)
Morning leave for Trichy/Tiruchirapalli situated on the banks of Cauvery River. A blend of history and tradition make it an important pilgrimage holiday destination. Visit Ranganath temple at Srirangam. Check into the hotel. Afternoon city tour of Trichy takes you to Rock fort and its temple, Srirangam and Jambukeshwar Temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 6 - Trichy - Madurai (120 Kms)
Today, early morning breakfast proceed to Madurai. On your arrival, check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a sightseeing tour of this bustling pilgrimage city whose life revolves around the great Meenakshi Temple, which dominates the old city. This temple with its Gopurams (pyramidal gateway towers) is covered with a profusion of multi- coloured images of mystical figures, animals and gods. Also visit Tirumalai Nayak Palace and the Gandhi Museum. Thereafter, return to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 7 - Madurai - Rameshwaram
After breakfast, drive off to Rameshwaram. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and proceed for a local tour of the town. one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Legend says that Ramanatha Swamy Temple stands where Lord Rama performed worship of a Sand Lingam made by Sita. Other places of interest in Rameshwaram are Ramanathaswamy Temple, Dhanushkodi, Agnitheertham Gandamadana Parvatham etc. Stay overnight at your hotel in Rameshwaram.
Day 8 - Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari
After breakfast, proceed to Kanyakumari. The Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal merge at Kanyakumari. It is an important pilgrimage center for Hindus. Upon arrival in Kanyakumari, check-in at the hotel and proceed on a visit to Vevakananda Rock, Gandhi Museum and Kumari Amman Temple. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 9 - Drive from Kanyakumari to Trivandrum (90 Kms)
